The enemy of my enemy…

So now it looks like Iraq and U.S. forces are planning on giving weapons to the very people we disarmed just a few months ago.

U.S. forces have begun arming nationalist guerrillas and former Saddam Hussein loyalists — and coordinating tactics — in a marriage of convenience against al Qaeda radicals in one of Iraq’s most violent provinces, senior U.S. commanders tell CNN.

Has the military lost its mind? Does the President or anybody in the military actually believe that this could possibly turn out to be a good thing? Have they learned nothing from history? This is exactly the same situation that we got ourselves into in Afghanistan when we helped rebel forces there fight the Russians. That worked in the short-term, but didn’t turn out so good for us in the long run. (more…)

The evolution of mankind…

Man kind needs to evolve, in a serious way. Our society is daily being battered by the media from all sides until we are hypnotized, anesthetized or both. There is a problem with the way our country is being run, and frankly that it can be “run” by a few individuals at all. There is an insideous current running through the body of the US governmental and industrial powers.

The lust for power and money has corrupted our political landscape since long before my generation. The more complex the system gets, the greater the problems that potentially come with it. A molecule or a cell can’t get cancer, but a liver or lymph (which are made up of molecules and individual cells working together) can. Along with extremely complex systems come the potential of extremely complex pathologies. I think there are several pathologies present in our governmental systems that will eventually lead to the “death” of the entire “system” of the US. How is that for fear mongering? (more…)

What is liberty?

What do people mean when they talk about liberty and freedom? To me liberty is about protecting my right to do whatever I want, provided those actions don’t interfere with someone else’s right to do what they want. It’s about my right to think whatever I want, and usually, to say whatever I want. Luckily I was born and live in a country that was founded upon the belief that we deserve these rights, and that it should work to protect them.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The Declaration of Independence, what a glorious document, what a grand idea. And out of this document was born the document that has the chance to create the greatest country on earth. (more…)
